Instructions for using the Prayer Center

Overview

Our Prayer Center is an adaptation of a discussion board program. While not perfect, we determined this to be the most cost effective way of launching this project. This technology is designed to facilitate communications between individuals in an electronic community. There is a link to Enter Our Prayer Center at the top left corner of the main website. You can return to the Prayer Center Index Page at any time by clicking on the Miracles of Prayer logo at the top left corner of the screen.

Getting Started

To participate in our Prayer Center, you must register and create an electronic identity. To do this, click on the Register link in the top navigation bar at the top right corner of the screen.

Registration is completely free. The only information we need from you is your true email address, but this will not be revealed to other members unless you choose to make it public in the Preferences section (see below). We will not share your information with anyone, nor will we use it for marketing purposes. We may email you occasionally with helpful information and updates about the Prayer Center.

Registration Information

Once you click the Register button and agree to the Registration Terms, you will be presented with the Registration form. The first area is Registration Information section. Here you will be asked to create a unique Username that will become your electronic identity to other members. If you enter a Username that is already registered in the system, you will be prompted to try again until you find one that is unique. Once your Username is assigned, you cannot change it. However, you can setup another account with a different name.

You will also need to choose a password. You should make sure this is something you can remember, but not easy for someone else to guess. A combination of letters and numbers is recommended. You can change your password at any time.

Logging In

Once you have created your identity, you can use your Username and Password to log in to the Prayer Center by clicking on the Log In link in the top navigation bar. You will need to do this each time you return so the system knows who you are and can identify any Prayer Requests you make or Personal Message you leave other members.

We recommend clicking on the Log Out link in the top navigation bar when you are ready to leave the Prayer Center.

Finding Your Way Around

Inside the Prayer Center you will find the following organizational structure:

Categories > Forums > Topics > Posts

Forums

Forums are "rooms" where you can find a list of the various topics that members have started discussions on.

In the Help category, there are forums designated to provide helpful information on how our system works.
In the Prayer Requests category, we have established the following areas for submitting prayer requests.

Short Term Requests – these are requests which are immediate in nature. These requests will stay on the board for 1 month. You may freely post your requests, but your donations and your prayers for the other needs listed here are very much appreciated!
Situational – these are requests of an indefinite time period relating to specific situations. These requests will stay on the board for 6 months. Requests here will receive both voluntary and paid intercession. You may freely post your requests, but your donations and your prayers for the other needs listed here are very much appreciated!
Perpetual – these are requests which require ongoing prayer for extended periods of time. These requests will stay on the board for 12 months. Requests here will receive both voluntary and paid intercession. You may freely post your requests, but your donations and your prayers for the other needs listed here are very much appreciated!

In the Answered Prayers category, we have established the following areas for you to both read and submit testimonies of answered prayer. We have divided this section into two forums:

Testimonies of Answered Prayer – any report where you believe God has specifically answered a prayer request.
Miracles – any reports of answered prayer which specifically include a clearly supernatural intervention.

Topics

Topics are specific entries into the various forums. Any prayer request you submit would be a new topic. To submit a prayer request, simply enter the appropriate forum and click on the New Topic button. You will be presented with a screen called Post a New Topic.

On the Subject line, please enter the title (a very brief description) of your prayer request. Examples would include:

Restoration of My Marriage
Healing for Lung Cancer
Prayer for My Son in Iraq

In the Message Body box, you can provide a more detailed description of your prayer request. Provide any facts that would allow others to pray specifically for your request, but do not share any personal information which would identify yourself or others.

If you know HTML, you can use the formatting tags buttons to add emphasis to your message, but we recommend avoiding this practice. Simply enter your request in the default text mode.

You can then choose to be notified by the system via email if someone enters a reply to your prayer request.

You can preview your request, or just submit it to the system. If you make a mistake, don’t worry…you can go back and edit your request at a later date.

If you receive an answer to your prayer, we encourage you to enter your testimony in our Answered Prayers forum.

Posts

Posts are simply replies to the requests (Topics) in the system. Only Moderators are permitted to reply to requests at this time. Any replies you see posted to your request will have come from an authorized intercessor or administrator of the system.

Private Messages

This system has an internal communication system that allows members to send private messages to one another. This is similar to email, but with the benefit of anonymity. This allows members to communicate with one another privately without disclosing their names or email addresses.

You can use the Personal Messaging system to send encouraging words to fellow members. If you are moved to do so while reading a particular prayer request, just click on the PM button below their request. You will be presented with a message window where you can send your message to that user. If they have chosen to be notified of instant messages in their profile settings, they will be notified immediately by email. Otherwise, they will be notified of any messages waiting the next time they log in to the Prayer Center.

You can also send any particular member a Private Message by clicking on the Member List link in the top navigation bar and clicking on the PM button next to the username of any member.

Please use the utmost respect when communicating with other members. Any reports of inappropriate behavior will result in a permanent ban from the system. IP addresses are tracked and can be used by the administrators to identify and lock out offending parties.

Your Participation

Your participation is crucial to our success. While we are providing paid intercession for the requests on this board, it is the heartfelt prayers of members who are willing to intercede for their fellows that bring about the results we all want to see.

Therefore, we strongly encourage you to invest some time reading through the many prayer requests you see posted here, and to offer up intercession on behalf of any who move your heart. If you want to offer a word of encouragement to a member in need, please use the Personal Messaging system to do so.

We also invite your financial support. We have paid intercessors who offer up prayer for the requests in this system, as well as administrative expenses to keep the system running.
